General Shelters is Born
General Shelters begins humble operations with a singular focus on quality and just a single product line, establishing the roots of what would become a Texas manufacturing legacy.
1996

General Shelters Goes Worldwide
Generalshelters.com launched.
1999

Launch of Advanced Steel & Metal Fabrication.
To ensure absolute quality control, General Shelters begins roll-forming its own metal. This pivotal move expands the business into fabricating high-grade 26- and 29-gauge steel building kits, carports, and commercial roofing components sold directly to the public.
2006

Expansion
Driven by consistent demand, the company expands its manufacturing footprint to a 26-acre facility nestled in the Texas Forest Country, including a new Corporate Office.

1st Mobile Unit Built
The company begins rapidly change as the product catalog evolves beyond basic portable structures to include specialized commercial units and 100% mobile units as well.
2008

Evolution Continues
The development of the finished cabin will forever change the landscape of General Shelters. It all started with the Star Spangled lineup.
2013

Rodeo Houston
Our tradition of bringing a finished cabin to HLSR begins and we still continue this today. This past spring we welcomed over 60.000 people through our cabin during the show.

75,000 Buildings
In 2016 we celebrated our 75,000th building produced.
